Neighbourhood pub is reopened by co-owners Gareth Cooper (runs Broadwick Live of Drumsheds and Koko) and Alex Payne (former DJ and music promoter and owner of a top boutique hotel and a Michelin-noted pub in Cornwall). The final, and most crucial, element is the chef and for this opening they've brought in Tarryn Bingle, whose CV includes stints at The Pem, La Trompette and Arbutus.
The menu sounds like it has loads to entice Londoners in through the doors including Dorset crab cacio e pepe; beef tartare with smoked bone marrow cream and pommes paille and a wobbly custard tart. There's a separate bar food menu if you just fancy popping in for a drink and a snack like Parmesan churros or a Scotch egg.
Where this really strays into Devonshire territory is the promise that, given the owners' musical backgrounds, of "the likelihood of some very familiar faces appearing unannounced for impromptu events over the weeks and months after opening." That feels very much like the Devonshire's Green Room vibe.
Payne, whose local this is, says: "[The Salusbury] has always had a fun air of mischief about it which we intend to keep alive. We’re not here to take ourselves too seriously; we just want to give Queen’s Park a brilliant place to meet friends, share great food, and have a laugh."
