We Couldn’t Stay Away For Long – Megan’s In The Tonsleys

Here at Gold Flamingo HQ, we love Megan’s (in case it wasn’t obvious). It’s simple yet delicious, easy yet exciting, and absolutely and wholeheartedly satisfying. We headed over to Megan’s, this time in Wandsworth Town, to discover some new favourites.

The ambiance of Megan’s is unmistakable. The bubbly staff are ready to greet you with smiles and recommendations, and the mouthwatering smell of Mediterranean greatness pours from the kitchen. The puppies (and their owners) happily absorb attention from even the toughest of patrons while the signature fairy lights sparkle away. The signature espresso martinis beckon.

And then we eat.

The must-try that we want you to take from us: the outstanding halloumi fries with honey. We don’t know how they’ve done it, but they’ve been able to create the greatest halloumi fries in existence. It’s the combination of the perfect crispiness with the perfect seasoning and the perfect drizzle of sweet honey. We think they’re…well, perfect.

Did we mention perfection?

Being our go-to main, the mixed grill meze is fantastic if you want to taste a little bit of everything. You’ve got the chicken, the lamb, the sucuk, the sauces, the salads. It also includes the tabbouleh and flatbread.

Who says you need to share?

If you fancy something lighter but equally as fulfilling, the incredible ‘Bowl’ selection will do the trick. Our favourite is the Nourish Bowl, inspired by (Head of Food) Erica’s favourite brunch bowls from Bondi Beach. It ticks the green box with broccolini, sautéed spinach and kale, avocado, fennel, and the likes, topped off with seeds and red wine vinaigrette.

Special mention, Feta & Lamb Fries

Where do we start with the rest – the Spanish Gambas Pil Pil (with all the bread you want to soak up the delicious oil); the calamari; the croquettes. Let’s not forget the desserts - the half-baked Nutella cookie dough; the orange & almond cake; the lemon and rosemary slice. Take one away with you if a food coma has you defeated – your tomorrow self will thank you!

Spoilt for choice with post dinner treats

The entire menu really is a journey. Head chef Sercan Ugurlu has done a great job at making the offering a crowd pleaser, but deeply true to Megan’s style at the same time.

But don’t just take our word for it, do check it out – but be warned, you too will become a regular in no time.

You can find the menus, their hours, and a full list of their locations here. Let us know what you think!
