Marugame Brings Its Famous Udon To St Christopher’s Place & Canary Wharf

Japanese favourite Marugame has kicked off quite the Udon revolution in the UK. Merging authentic, handmade, and soul-warming food with fast-food convenience, they call this the ‘Marugame Way’ – and the foodies are deservedly flocking.

The new openings mark an exciting era of expansion for the chain, triggered by the surge in popularity of this scrumptious Japanese staple. Opening this Thursday (3rd Feb), Marugame has chosen the heart of London’s vibrant quarter at St Christopher’s Place and London’s central business district at Canary Wharf as its newest homes, to give Londoners a taste of their fresh noodles, unhurried broths, and crispy tempura, along with traditional Japanese treats and Saki.

You can work your way through menu favourites like the Beef Nikutama, offering beef and caramelised onions in a dashi broth with a poached Onsen egg, or the more traditional Kamaage, which they say is the purest way to eat udon.

The Chicken Katsu is another hugely popular option, and indeed a staff favourite, but if you want to venture out of your comfort zone, the Kimchi Yaki is a brilliant choice, with delicious stir-fried udon served with kimchi, cabbage, red peppers, onions, carrots, and beansprouts.

In the smallest of chances that you need convincing to stay for dessert, there is mochi and dorayaki on offer (including the outstanding Green Tea Mascarpone & Red Bean Dorayaki), but you can also go all-out with unlimited soft serves, which in our opinion, is absolutely the correct way to finish a spectacular meal.

And Marugame is no stranger to incredible offers to entice the already eager crowds – you can sign up to the Marugame Club to stay up to date with their latest updates and giveaways, and to claim one of 2,022 free bowls of udon or tempura pieces at the two new locations on their openings. Slurp away!
