Island Poké Cooks Up Poké Bao Concept In Hawaiian-Chinese Fusion

Island Poke has made quite a name for itself with its creative partnerships and culinary fusions, delighting UK diners with treats like Hawaiian-Nikkei bowls with Chotto Matte and Hawaiian-Thai dishes with Rosa’s Thai Café. Now, the masterminds behind the scenes have concocted poké bao, and it’s already making waves.

The concept is simple – from the mouth-watering marinated ingredients, out goes the bed of rice, and in goes the bao. And Instead of a bowl, the vessel is the deliciously fluffy steamed bun in an unexpected twist of tradition.

The verdict? Island Poké have rustled up yet another success. The Chinese bao bun offers a creative yet perfect complement in taste and texture to the rich ingredients, enhancing the flavours in the sauces and turning this from a casual grab-and-go lunch or snack to a uniquely inventive treat.

You can choose between four flavours – Yuzu Salmon with Wasabi Mayo, Korean BBQ Chicken with Sriracha Dressing, and Miso Aubergine or Spicy Tuna with Shiitake Teriyaki Dressing, and there’s also an array of toppings you can customise your poké bao with.

Priced between £5.45 and £6.45, it’s difficult to find a London eatery that offers better value for money. Your new go-to lunch destination is now sorted – you’re welcome!

Poké baos are now available across the majority of Island Poké branches – you can find your local one here.
