Warner Bros’ + Amazon Studios’ ‘Air’ To Hit the Big Screen on 5th April

This is one for movie buffs, basketball fans, and sneakerheads alike. Warner Bros release a star-studded chronicle of the origins of the Air Jordan shoeline, and the transformation of Nike from a mediocre player in the game to a global pioneer and brand we now recognise. It’s a story about guts, vision, and goals – and ultimately, the epitome of glory.

From award-winning director Ben Affleck, AIR reveals the unbelievable game-changing partnership between a then rookie Michael Jordan and Nike’s fledgling basketball division which revolutionized the world of sports and contemporary culture with the Air Jordan brand. This moving story follows the career-defining gamble of an unconventional team with everything on the line, the uncompromising vision of a mother who knows the worth of her son’s immense talent, and the basketball phenom who would become the greatest of all time.

There’s no shortage of big names when it comes to ‘Air’ – directed by Ben Affleck, it stars Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Matthew Maher, Marlon Wayans, Jay Mohr, Julius Tennon, with Chris Tucker and Viola Davis, and has a long line of top producers including David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, Jon Weinbach, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Madison Ainley, Jeff Robinov, Peter Guber, and Jason Michael Berman.

And what a treat the audience is in for. The high-spec production and soundtrack manages to capture the essence of the 80s perfectly, the juxtaposition creating a wonderfully familiar yet vividly encapsulating landscape that leaves you both nostalgically sighing and breathlessly rooting for the relatable protagonist as the pieces fall away only to float back together. Sure, there are some missed opportunities and comedic cop-outs where a dramatic crescendo might have given the screenplay the extra kick – but the movie remains admirably true to its origin and retains the respect (and indeed attention) of the engrossed crowd. It’s one that we’d certainly recommend you watch at least once.

‘Air: Courting A Legend’ will be released exclusively in theatres on 5th April.
