Bertinet Bakery brings breakfast in bed at free South Bank pop up

Bertinet Bakery multi award-winning sourdough bread makers, will install a large bed on by the River Thames so passerby can have a taste of a cosy morning in bed.

The bed-café pop-up will offer free menu items made in collaboration with Vanessa Kimble (author and founder of The Sourdough School) and will include boiled eggs with croque monsieur soldiers, whipped avocado toast with sweetcorn salsa, savoury masala French toast made of eggy bread, onions and turmeric served with a green chutney, and the ultimate open BLT.

"Our breakfast-in-bed experience is a way to remind Brits of the joy that can come from a lie in on Sunday morning and of course, that perfectly toasted slice of sourdough for breakfast in bed’’, said Dan Barrett, Managing Director for Bertinet Bakery. He added: We believe that life's most glorious moments are found in the simple pleasures."

Weekend lie-ins have become a rare luxury, with 65% of Brits waking up before 9am on a Sunday and one in seven says their lie-ins last for just 29 minutes longer than their regular wake-up time, while 66% can’t even remember the last time they indulged in breakfast in bed, shows a research by the brand.
