Fan Favourite Prezzo Opens Islington Flagship

In the past two decades, Prezzo has deservedly grown into an esteemed household name, having dedicated to perfecting the art of fresh pasta. The story begins with their legendary first restaurant in Oxford Street, and has expanded into an impressive collection of 180 locations. The newest is Upper Street, and it ticks all the same boxes of remarkable success.

The open plan restaurant stays true to its signature Italian style. Wooden furnishings, comfortable banquettes, and a large bar fill the space, adorned with gleaming silver fittings and gorgeous artwork – all romanticised by dim lighting. It’s classy yet casual, and encouragingly homely to regulars and newbies alike.

The menu hits all the Prezzo high notes, and the quality doesn’t disappoint. The starters range from juicy King Prawns in a rich chilli tomato sauce and Calamari with a basil pesto mayo dip, to Crispy Fried Mozzarella and the ever popular Garlic Bread with Balsamic Onion.

We love the Prezzo starters, and it’s definitely possible to form your entire order from these small plates

Our new go-to Prezzo main course is one that’s just launched along with the flagship – the Dolce e Piccante pizza comes with spicy pepperoni, ‘njuja, red chilli, basic, and tomato sauce. It’s all topped with burrata mozzarella, and the ‘wow’ factor: it’s then drizzled with honey.

Prezzo's newest menu addition is well worth a try

If you’re less of a pizza person, the key pasta option for us is the Goat’s Cheese Penne Al Forno, that comes with mushrooms, peppers, spinach, and basil pesto in a pomodoro sauce.

The tricky part - saving room for dessert

Prezzo has you covered even if you’re after less carbs and more protein, with their delicious King Prawn & Oak-Smoked Salmon Risotto.

The menu is well-rounded, and really does have an offering for all appetites. And price-wise, for the quality, you can’t beat it – even the kid’s menu is competitive, with three courses at only £6.75.

We can’t let you go without mentioning the bar though. Other than the impressive cocktail list (they make an excellent Pornstar Martini), there is also a lengthy list of fine Italian wine, with the staff only too happy to help with pairings and recommendations.

And the bonus – the service was top notch. Thanks to the team at Upper Street!

Our TL;DR: Prezzo strikes again. Its high-quality Italian food variety, relaxed environment, and affordable prices, along with the beautiful décor and signature styles, makes it a safe bet for a great evening out.
