Marugame Udon Introduces Delicious Breakfast Menu at New Waterloo Opening

Marugame’s growth across the capital has been astounding – like us, the crowds just can’t get enough of the mouth-watering Japanese staple. Now, there’s another restaurant launching – and with it a brand new breakfast menu – this time in Waterloo Station, making it even easier for Londoners to feast on Japan’s favourite hand-made udon noodles.

The Waterloo launch will be Marugame’s eighth opening across the city, taking over a 3110 sq. ft space featuring 108 covers within Waterloo’s main station, a busy intersection for thousands of commuters every day.

The Waterloo site will also be the first to introduce breakfast at Marugame Udon with a delicious range of Udon breakfast specials, sandos, and breakfast tempura. Featuring a Japanese twist on traditional breakfast dishes, Marugame Udon will serve up Benedict Udon and Florentine Udon from the kitchen, made up of Udon in a rich hollandaise sauce with a soft poached Onsen egg, with crispy streaky bacon making up the Benedict Udon and wilted spinach for the Florentine. The menu also includes Salmon and Rice bowls and Porridge to grab and go for those in a rush.

For those who need a quick fix for breakfast, Marugame Udon is also adding exclusive Sandos (thick and fluffy Japanese style sandwiches) to the menu, featuring Katsu & Bacon, Streaky Bacon & Tamagoyaki Egg, Japanese Pork Sausage & Egg and Spinach & Miso Tofu. With the addition of exclusive breakfast tempura including Sausage, Bacon and Tamagoyaki egg, diners can start their day the Marugame way for dine in or take away.

Did you know that the word ‘Tamagotchi’ is derived from the Japanese word Tamago meaning ‘egg’ and Uotchi meaning ‘watch’?

To celebrate the opening of its newest kitchen and breakfast menu, Marugame Udon has partnered with Bandai, creators of the digital pet toy Tamagotchi, to launch a competition to win prizes including free breakfast for a year if guests can keep their Original Tamagotchi alive. The first 100 Marugame Udon club card members who buy a breakfast item on Grand Opening Day, will be given one of the 100 special Marugame issued Tamagotchi Original digital pet toys to keep alive in exchange for Marugame Udon club card prizes. One week will be rewarded with a free breakfast item, and a difficult 28-day streak will win free breakfast for a year.

That’s not the only treat Marugame Udon will have on offer. The Waterloo restaurant will be giving away 500 FREE pieces of tempura to the first sign-ups to Marugame Club, to celebrate the grand opening day on 12th January along with live Japanese Matsuri (Matsuri 祭り= Festival in Japanese). Don’t forget to stop by to claim your treats and be one of the first to taste the spectacular new breakfast menu that will change the way the city does breakfast!

Marugame Udon will be open in London’s Waterloo Station from 12th January 2023. You can earn ‘Bowl Stamps’ and earn treats and rewards, as well as claiming the treats during the opening, by joining the Marugame Club here.
